Position Overview 

The Impact Associate provides critical data management, organization, and visualization support for UUSC’s Impact and Accountability assessment work. The position reports to the Director of Research, Impact, and Learning and works closely with and supports the work of the Senior Impact Storyteller. The Associate is responsible for organizing, coding, and managing UUSC impact data as well as developing and managing an internal tool for visualizing impact data. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, close attention to detail, and proficiency working with quantitative and qualitative data. Travel for the position may be approximately 10% of the time. This role is part of the Research, Impact & Learning team in the Programs, Advocacy, and Action (PAA) department.

Key Roles and Responsibilities 

Data Management and Dashboarding
  • In collaboration with the Senior Impact Storyteller, the candidate will create a system for storing digital impact and accountability data in an easily accessible and central location (database).
  • The candidate will be responsible for updating the database with raw qualitative and quantitative data from UUSC teams throughout each year.
  • Collect and code qualitative data in NVivo and support data analysis.
  • Use data visualization tools (like Tableau) to make key data and findings digestible and user-friendly for various audiences.
  • Maintain, improve, and iterate the database and a visual dashboard.
Coordination & Administration
  • Support the Research, Impact & Learning team by coordinating meetings with other UUSC teams to update and improve impact data collection and learn from the findings.
  • Coordinate and schedule periodic institutional Learning Cohort meetings.
  • Support Impact & Accountability meetings through notetaking and scheduling.
  • Share Impact and Accountability updates and new initiatives through internal channels like Microsoft Teams, Monday.com, and at PAA department meetings.
  • Manage check requests and administrative tasks for the Research, Impact, & Learning team.
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        
Required and Desired Qualifications

Required
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience required, preferably providing administrative, data collection, and/or monitoring and evaluation support in a non-profit environment
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities from experience
  • Proficiency with technology, including word processing software, database systems, coding software (like NVivo, and Tableau), and intranet applications, including experience with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Growth mindset and interest in learning and improving systems and processes
  • Close attention to detail
  • Desire to support UUSC’s and our partners’ mission and human rights goals
Desired
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole a plus

Physical Requirements

Physical requirements include the ability to operate a laptop and cellular phone, and other tools as related to the position, with or without reasonable accommodations. Travel for the position will be approximately 10% of the time and could include both domestic and international travel. UUSC has detailed travel procedures and enhanced intelligence to support staff safety.

Remote employees can be based in any state where UUSC is registered as a business, including MA, ME, CT, NY, PA, MD, Washington D.C., VA, NC, FL, GA, WA. Hybrid employees must live within commuting distance to the Cambridge, MA office and be available for weekly commuting to work in Cambridge.
